


The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported the detention of 75 citizens suspected of organizing mass riots.
Information that these individuals appealed to President Sadyr Japarov and Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, calling for new presidential elections, appeared in the media and social networks on February 9. The appeal was signed by scholars, former prime ministers, former deputies, and public figures.
Some points of this appeal caused a wide resonance in society and heightened tensions in the country's political situation.
In this regard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs opened a criminal case based on the signs provided in part 1 of Article 278 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (mass riots). All 75 citizens were brought to the investigative department, where necessary investigative actions were conducted with them.
The initiators and active participants of this case – T.B. and U.E. (born in 1955) and D.K. (born in 1960) – were also detained. They have been placed in a detention center in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Searches were conducted at their places of residence.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges citizens not to succumb to provocations and not to spread false information.
