The official is suspected of extorting a bribe.
As a result of a joint operation by the General Prosecutor's Office and the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), a high-profile prosecutor's office employee was detained on suspicion of corruption.
According to information, on February 1, the deputy prosecutor of one of the districts in the Talas region, known as S.K.O., was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of 140,000 soms (approximately equivalent to 1,600 US dollars).
According to the GKNB, this official was creating corrupt schemes by exerting pressure on individuals under probation. During the investigation, it was revealed that the prosecutor demanded 2,000 dollars, threatening to change lenient sentences to actual prison terms in case of refusal.
The detainee has been placed in the temporary detention facility of the GKNB. Currently, an investigation is underway to check for possible involvement of other officials in this corruption scheme.
