In the Talas region, a case of extortion of a bribe was uncovered, involving the deputy prosecutor known by the initials S.K.O. This has become part of a broader fight against corruption in law enforcement agencies.
According to information from the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), S.K.O., abusing his official position, extorted money from convicts who were under probation or fines. In exchange for 2,000 US dollars, he threatened to file an appeal against the court sentence, which could lead to actual imprisonment.
Actions of S.K.O. have seriously undermined public trust in government agencies and harmed the efforts to combat corruption being carried out by the country's leadership.
On February 1 of this year, as a result of operational activities conducted by SCNS employees together with a representative of the General Prosecutor's Office, S.K.O. was detained while receiving part of the bribe amounting to 140,000 soms.
At the moment, the detainee has been placed in the temporary detention facility of the SCNS, and investigative actions continue to identify other possible crimes and accomplices.
