In order to prevent the introduction and spread of infectious animal diseases within the country, veterinary and sanitary control has been intensified. This was reported by the Department for the Control of Epizootics of the Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan.
These measures are being implemented in accordance with the requirements of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) Terrestrial Animal Health Code, specifically under Section 2 "Risk Analysis" and Subsection 2.1 "Risk Analysis for Import." Furthermore, they are based on Article 13 of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Veterinary Medicine," which aims to protect the veterinary and sanitary safety of the country.
Within the framework of the current legislation, necessary measures are being taken to prevent the import and spread within the country of pathogens of infectious animal diseases, as well as products and goods of animal origin that do not meet veterinary and biological safety requirements.
According to official notifications posted in the information system of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WAHIS), monitoring and assessment of the epizootic situation in regions where outbreaks of infectious animal diseases have been recorded is being carried out. Based on the collected data, temporary restrictions may be imposed on the import of animals and animal products from the relevant countries or regions.
