In the Kyrgyz Republic, the import of animals may be temporarily restricted due to the risk of infection

In order to protect against the possible importation and spread of infectious diseases among animals, new veterinary and sanitary control measures have been introduced in the Kyrgyz Republic. This information was provided by the Department for the Control of Epizootics of the Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan.

These measures are implemented in accordance with the provisions of Section 2 "Risk Analysis" and Subsection 2.1 "Risk Analysis for Import" of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) Terrestrial Animal Health Code. They are also based on Article 13 of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Veterinary Medicine," which guarantees the veterinary and sanitary protection of the country.

It is emphasized that all necessary preventive measures are being taken within the framework of current legislation to prevent the importation and spread of infectious agents, as well as products and foodstuffs of animal origin that do not meet veterinary and biological safety standards.

According to official reports posted in the World Organisation for Animal Health Information System (WAHIS), monitoring and assessment of the epizootic situation in countries and regions with registered outbreaks of animal infectious diseases are being conducted. Based on the data obtained, temporary restrictions may be imposed on the import of animals and animal products from these countries or regions into the Kyrgyz Republic.
