Bishkek's grocery basket as of March 28. Pears have become more expensive, while vegetables have become cheaper
This week in Bishkek, there is an increase in prices only for pears, while the cost of bread, potatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions, carrots, apples, and milk has significantly decreased.

As a result, the cost of the minimum grocery set has decreased by **216 soms**, amounting to **7,449 soms**.

Every week we track prices for a fixed set of products in the same supermarket. Below is the complete information on which products were included in our basket and the reasons for their selection.
Prices may vary between supermarkets and markets. Stores often have promotions on certain items.
According to our analysis, since the beginning of the experiment in October 2018, the cost of the grocery basket has increased by **4,179 soms**. Since the beginning of this year, it has risen by **726 soms**, and compared to the same period in 2025, the increase was **1,227 soms**.
The most affordable product in our basket turned out to be bread. The cost of the basket is mainly influenced by fresh vegetables and fruits, which is why price changes occur.

In 2025, the cost of the grocery basket increased by **686 soms**. The lowest price was recorded on October 18 — **5,791 soms**. The highest cost was noted on December 6 — **6,927 soms**.

The nutritional standards for citizens of Kyrgyzstan were approved by the government in 2009. According to these standards, each resident must consume nine types of products monthly.

The approved list includes: 9 kg of bread products, 5 kg of meat, 8.2 kg of potatoes, 9 kg of vegetables, 10 kg of fruits and berries, 2 kg of sugar, 17 liters of milk, 1 liter of vegetable oil, 4 eggs, 100 g of fish and fish products, as well as 200 g of tea.

Based on the minimum norm established by the state, we calculated the cost of the grocery basket for a family of four, based on prices in one of the supermarkets in Bishkek. Recently, many city residents prefer to shop in large stores.

Of course, the calculations are approximate and based solely on government standards. Considering that everyone has different dietary preferences, one should not treat our basket as an absolute truth. It is more of a social experiment conducted by 24.kg.

Grain products include not only bread but also pasta and cereals. Our family is typical, so we prefer apples and bananas among fruits, and onions, carrots, peppers, cabbage, cucumbers, and tomatoes among vegetables. We try to stick to only necessary products without excess.
