Over 5,000 people are involved in the construction of the railway China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan
According to information provided by the government, the main project documents have already been completed, and the drawings are currently being refined and coordinated with the relevant agencies. Active work is underway at the construction sites, involving over 5,000 workers and more than 5,600 units of equipment.
Over 3.5 million cubic meters of earthworks have already been completed.
Representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the national company "Kyrgyz Temir Jolu," and the railway company "China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan" also participated in the discussions.
The main efforts in the construction are focused on tunnel excavation, earthworks, and bridge construction.
Erlis Akunbekov emphasized the importance of adhering to all safety and environmental standards. The government is providing the necessary conditions to support and coordinate the implementation of this project.
The China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan railway represents one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the region, aimed at creating a new transport corridor between the East and the West.
This highway will connect the railway networks of China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, providing access to the countries of Central Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. For Kyrgyzstan, the project is of strategic importance, as it will expand transport routes and strengthen the country's transit potential.
The length of the railway will be approximately 450-500 kilometers, most of which will pass through the territory of Kyrgyzstan. Due to the complex mountainous terrain, the construction of numerous tunnels and bridges is planned, making the project technically challenging and capital-intensive.
The total cost of the project is estimated at around 4.7 billion US dollars.
Financing will be provided from two main sources. China will provide about 2.3 billion dollars in the form of a long-term loan. A comparable amount will be allocated to the authorized capital of the joint project company, where the shares are distributed as follows: 51% belongs to China, while Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan each hold 24.5%.
Kyrgyzstan's contribution to the project will amount to approximately 700 million dollars, including investments in capital and related expenses.
