Better 5 elites than 100 ordinary ones: In Naryn, there are calls to abandon large herds.
Experts note that this year farmers have started to abandon the increase in herd size, preferring to improve its quality characteristics.
The head of the At-Bashinsky district veterinary, pastures, and feed management, Torogeldi Tynymseitov, reported that work in this area is progressing systematically.
According to him, government agencies are supporting farmers by providing seed material free of charge. Local authorities are also actively informing the population. “We hold meetings together with the heads of the rural councils and organize blood sampling from cattle for diagnostics. If the animal is healthy, we proceed with artificial insemination. Last year, we managed to obtain the first pedigree calves. In the coming days, we plan to hold an exhibition-fair to showcase the results of our work to local residents,” Tynymseitov added.
Experts emphasize that the main goal of the reform is to obtain highly productive offspring for meat and dairy production.
According to livestock specialists, keeping 5 heads of elite breeding cattle is much more profitable than 100 heads of ordinary non-pedigree cattle.
In addition to working with cattle, the district is also engaged in sheep breeding, paying special attention to the meat-fat breed "Arashan." The peak of the lambing campaign is expected in April, after which an agricultural fair will also take place.
To date, a group of 20 advanced farmers has been formed in the At-Bashinsky district, who have practically demonstrated the effectiveness and profitability of modern herd reproduction methods.
