In Kyrgyzstan, an important agricultural census will take place from March 20 to April 10. The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Erlis Akunbekov, urged citizens at a coordination meeting to provide complete and honest data.
He noted that some farm owners are afraid to indicate the actual number of livestock and the area of land due to concerns that this may affect social benefits or lead to new taxes.
“It is important to understand that the agricultural census is not aimed at fiscal purposes, but is of paramount importance for veterinary safety. Only by having up-to-date data on livestock can the state adequately plan the purchase of vaccines and preventive measures, which will help protect livestock from epidemics,” emphasized Akunbekov.
For three weeks, specialists will collect information on:
The condition and size of household plots;
The availability and area of pastures;
Farm buildings and yards;
The exact number of livestock and poultry.
Local self-government bodies and territorial statistical units will participate in the census. The collected data will serve as the basis for updating the country's agricultural policy and will assist in the effective planning of the national economy.
The Ministry of Agriculture reminds that providing accurate information about the state of personal and farm holdings is the key to food security and animal health throughout the republic.
