There are 269 reservoirs in the region, which can collectively hold 253.145 million cubic meters of water. Currently, 168.81 million cubic meters have been accumulated.
The planned area for the sowing campaign is 418,764 hectares, of which 269,698 hectares are irrigated lands. It is expected that 850 million cubic meters of water will be used for irrigation, which is 36% more than in the previous year.
The state budget has allocated 120 million soms for the repair and restoration of irrigation systems. This year, work is planned on 231.5 kilometers of water canals, cleaning of 609 kilometers of drainage ditches, as well as the repair of 579 hydraulic structures. Additionally, 740 kilometers of inter-farm canals will be manually cleaned.
Zhantaev also reported on the implementation of new drip and sprinkler irrigation technologies. Farmers will be trained in water-saving methods, and the creation of an electronic queue for irrigation and the construction of a regulating reservoir in the Issyk-Ata region are planned.
