Compared to 2024, this figure increased by 16.8%. The main source of growth was remittances from Russia, which rose by 16.1%.
The growth in remittance volumes in dollar terms was driven by a significant strengthening of the Russian currency against the dollar — by 24% year-on-year by the end of 2025. It is important to mention that the exchange rate of the ruble during this period reached its highest level since mid-2022.
Economic Consequences
Nevertheless, the exchange rate of the som against the US dollar remained stable: over the past year, the national currency weakened by only 0.5%.
The increase in monetary inflows had a positive effect on domestic demand, resulting in a 17.8% increase in the volume of domestic trade in Kyrgyzstan by the end of the year.
