At the plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh, held on February 11, 2026, Deputy Medina Kairylbekova raised the issue of the need to repair the canal in the Talas region. She noted that there is a significant loss of irrigation water in this area.

The deputy called for the canal to be concreted, as this would help retain up to 60% of the total water volume. In response, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Agriculture Bakyt Torobaev announced plans to install a concrete cover in this section.

During the meeting, information from the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic regarding preparations for spring field and economic activities in 2026 was also discussed.
