The entire Issyk-Kul region should transition to drip irrigation of fields in the future, - Bakyt Torobaev

- During the plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh, held on February 11, 2026, deputy Bolot Saginayev raised the issue of the inadequate irrigation water distribution system in the Issyk-Kul region.

He proposed to install two sluices in the villages of the region to improve the situation.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture Bakyt Torobaev assured that this issue would be addressed.

Saginayev also inquired about when the issuance of loans for the development of drip irrigation at 2% per annum would begin.

Torobaev responded that a decision would be made within the next month.

Additionally, he noted that in the future, the entire Issyk-Kul region should transition to drip irrigation of fields.

“It is necessary not only to use water for irrigating fields but also to take care of the replenishment of Lake Issyk-Kul,” he added.

At this time, information from the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic was also being considered regarding preparations for spring field and economic activities in 2026 in the country.
