
Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Industry Bakyt Torobaev spoke at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee dedicated to agricultural policy, ecology, and water resource management, where he presented a report on preparations for the spring fieldwork.
According to him, in 2026, the commissioning of 893 new wells is planned. As part of the preparations, the ministry has provided 203 units of agricultural machinery, while local self-government bodies have prepared an additional approximately 1,000 units of equipment.
Torobaev added that design and construction work on irrigation systems will be carried out at 139 facilities. He also noted that drip irrigation will be implemented over an area of 21,000 hectares, of which 5,200 hectares will be financed by the state, while 14,740 hectares will be funded by farmers.
“At the moment, 57,000 tons of seeds have been procured, which is 82.5% of the required volume. For certain crops, such as soybeans, tobacco, and rice, the provision reaches 100%. By the spring season, 22 nurseries have prepared 15 million 37 thousand seedlings for planting in 2026,” the minister noted.
