Issyk-Kul Region to Switch to Drip and Sprinkler Irrigation

Bakyt Torobaev, who holds the position of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, announced important news for farmers. At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, he stated that agrarians who decide to switch to drip and sprinkler irrigation will be able to obtain preferential loans with a low interest rate of 2%.
The Minister noted that this process will begin within the next month. He also emphasized the importance of the complete transition of the Issyk-Kul region to drip irrigation to ensure sufficient water supply to the area.
“By switching to drip irrigation, we will be able to provide more water for Issyk-Kul. Otherwise, if all the water is used for agricultural needs, it may not reach the reservoir,” Torobaev added, highlighting the significance of this initiative.
