An important step in the development of the energy sector in southern Kyrgyzstan has been taken by the government of the country, which announced the start of the implementation of a significant hydropower project in the Osh region. Recently, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the company "Kyrgyzstan Reclaim Co. LTD" signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which formalized their intentions to build a cascade of small hydropower plants.

The new energy capacities will be located on the Tar River in the Kara-Kulja district. The signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov and the head of the investment company Tsu Chenzi.

This project is considered strategically important for the region. According to preliminary data, the capacity of the complex of hydraulic structures will be 200 MW. The investor is ready to allocate about 300 million US dollars for the implementation of this large-scale project.

In the coming months, specialists will conduct detailed surveys in the challenging conditions of the mountainous terrain, after which the main stage of construction of the energy infrastructure will begin. The opening of the cascade of hydropower plants on the Tar River will not only help reduce the electricity shortage in the southern regions but will also create numerous jobs during the construction and operation of the new facilities.
