The project of a cascade of small hydropower plants on the Tar River is estimated at $300 million
On January 23, 2026, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Cabinet of Ministers and the company LLC "Kyrgyzstan Reclaim Co. LTD" regarding the construction of a cascade of small hydroelectric power stations on the Tar River, located in the Kara-Kulja district of the Osh region.
The document was signed by the Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov and the General Director of LLC "Kyrgyzstan Reclaim Co. LTD" Tszyu Chenzi.
According to the agreements reached, the implementation of an investment project for the construction of a cascade of small hydropower plants with a total installed capacity of about 200 MW is planned. The expected investment volume is approximately 300 million US dollars.
The implementation of this project will contribute to the commissioning of new generating capacities, strengthening the energy resilience of the Kyrgyz Republic, and ensuring stable and sustainable development of the country's energy sector.
