The tightening of penalties applies to those who attempt to transport goods without the necessary documentation.
The State Tax Service of Kyrgyzstan has announced an increase in liability for the illegal transportation of goods across the borders of the Eurasian Economic Union countries.
According to the new rules, fines for such offenses have increased. For individuals, the fine has risen from 10,000 to 20,000 soms, and for legal entities—from 28,000 to 65,000 soms.
In the case of repeated violations within a year, the fines will be even more significant: individuals will pay 40,000 soms, while legal entities will pay 100,000 soms. Additionally, there is a possibility of confiscation of illegally imported goods.
The most frequent violations are recorded at the "Ak-Zhol" checkpoint on the border with Kazakhstan, where cosmetics, medicines, supplements, cigarettes, mobile phones, vapes, and electronic cigarettes are attempted to be transported without documents.
The Tax Service urges citizens to strictly comply with the legislation and properly document their goods to avoid hefty fines and losses.
