In Kyrgyzstan, responsibility for the illegal transportation of goods across the border has been tightened.

The State Tax Service of Kyrgyzstan has announced that new amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses regarding the illegal transportation of goods and vehicles across the borders of EAEU countries have come into effect.

According to information provided by the press service of the STS, the amounts of administrative fines have been significantly increased:

• for individuals — from 10,000 to 20,000 soms;
• for legal entities — from 28,000 to 65,000 soms.

In case of repeated violations within a year, the fines will increase:

• for individuals — from 20,000 to 40,000 soms;
• for legal entities — from 65,000 to 100,000 soms.
Additionally, mandatory confiscation of goods that were transported illegally is provided for.
The tax service noted that there has recently been an increase in attempts to import goods in passenger cars through the "Ak-Zhol" checkpoint without proper control and accompanying documents. Such goods include cosmetics, dietary supplements, medications, tobacco products, mobile phones, vapes, and electronic cigarettes.

Representatives of the tax service urged citizens and businesspeople to strictly adhere to the legislation to avoid fines, confiscations, and other sanctions.
