Entrepreneur: At least 5,000 sewing workshops have closed due to sales issues
He noted that the situation at the border with Russia and problems with product sales began to arise back in September.
“Five months have passed, but we have not received any real support. The closure of 4-5 thousand workshops is a serious blow. When I opened my enterprise, I was checked for three months as if I were under investigation. Everything was scrutinized, including the water. And now, when difficulties have arisen, no one is interested in our fate. The Ministry of Economy is trying to help, but everything is hindered by legislative barriers. About 500 thousand people work in this sector,” emphasized Parpiyev.
Representatives of the sewing industry also pointed out a number of problems:
- the lack of laboratories for checking the quality and safety of sewing products, which would hinder the export of products to Europe;
- the absence of production of needles, fittings, and fabrics;
- difficulties with product sales;
- while agricultural processors are discussed, tailors are not.
Among the positive aspects: the tax regime.Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Sydykov reported that 36.6 thousand workers are officially registered in the sewing industry. If we consider people engaged in related services such as logistics, the total number is about 150 thousand. Taxes from this sector amount to approximately 100 million soms.
