State Antimonopoly Service: We will fine for price increases in cafes

The agency will investigate complaints about catering establishments

In the Antimonopoly Regulation Service, it was reported that fines will be imposed for price increases on dishes in cafes and restaurants. This was stated in an interview with "Kabar" by the head of the agency, Jenaly Orozbaev.

As of January 1 of this year, a ban on service charges, which previously amounted to 10-15%, came into effect in the country. However, as citizens report, after the introduction of this ban, there has been a sharp increase in prices for dishes in catering establishments.

“We are receiving complaints from citizens that some establishments have started to include the canceled service charge in the price of dishes. In accordance with the consumer protection law, we have the ability to conduct monitoring activities. We will carry out inspections and impose fines on violators in accordance with the law,” Orozbaev noted.

Fines of 16,500 soms are provided for individuals for underweight goods, reduction in portion size, or deceiving customers, while for legal entities the fine amounts to 51,000 soms.

If goods are sold at a price exceeding the stated amount, individuals face a fine of 30,000 soms, while legal entities will be fined 15,000 soms. Similar sanctions are provided for the absence of price tags in the national currency.
