Cafes and restaurants will be checked due to complaints about rising prices – Antimonopoly
The Antimonopoly Service plans to impose fines on catering establishments for unjustified price increases on their dishes. This was announced by the head of the Antimonopoly Regulation Service, Jenaly Orozbaev, in an interview with the Kabar agency.
Since January 1 of this year, a new decree has come into force in the country, abolishing the service charge in restaurants and cafes. However, as Orozbaev noted, the agency has received complaints from citizens indicating that some establishments have included this charge in the price of their dishes.
“According to the consumer protection law, we have the right to special control. Within the framework of this law, an inspection plan has been approved, and all catering establishments will be subjected to scheduled inspections. If violations are found, fines will be imposed. For example, if a portion turns out to be smaller than stated, this will also be considered a violation of trading rules and will result in a fine,” he added.
In addition, Orozbaev noted that the Antimonopoly Regulation Service will closely monitor the situation in the catering sector. In case of receiving complaints, unscheduled inspections may occur, while scheduled inspections will be conducted with prior notification to the business owners.
“Now citizens have the opportunity to clearly understand what they are paying for. In accordance with the new decree, our service will continue its monitoring activities,” concluded the head of the agency.
