The Iranian Experts Council announced the selection of a new Supreme Leader on March 8, according to information provided by the Iranian agency Mehr.

So far, the name of the new leader has not been disclosed. It is expected that Hosseini Bushehri, who heads the Secretariat of the Experts Council, will present him, but no official comments have been made by him yet.

The Experts Council consists of 88 theologians well-versed in Islamic law, and this body has the authority to elect the Supreme Leader of Iran.

The selection of the new leader took place after the tragic death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed on February 28 as a result of military actions by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory.

On the morning of February 28, Israel and the United States launched strikes against Iran, while Donald Trump announced his intention to eliminate the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic.

In response, Iran struck targets in Israel and other Middle Eastern countries where U.S. military bases are located. The attacks were directed at Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Dubai (UAE), and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

As a result of the U.S.-Israeli operation, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed, and his wife, Mansoureh Khodjasteh, died from injuries sustained during the attack.

Donald Trump stated that the military operation in Iran would last about four weeks. In response to these events, Iran declared jihad against the United States and Israel, noting that negotiations would not be possible.

The complex situation in the Middle East has implications for the entire world, including Kyrgyzstan. As a result of the conflict in the UAE, thousands of tourists found themselves in difficult situations.
