Ferry sinks off the coast of the Philippines: 15 people dead
According to local media reports, there were 332 passengers and 27 crew members on board. So far, rescue teams have managed to pull 316 people from the water, while 43 individuals are still considered missing. The search is ongoing.
Preliminary data suggest a possible technical malfunction as the cause of the disaster. An investigation into the incident is underway.
The Philippines is known for its history of maritime disasters. In 2023, a fire broke out on a ferry traveling the Zamboanga - Sulu province route, claiming the lives of more than 30 people.
