According to local authorities, the death toll from the ferry disaster in the Philippines has risen to 13, while more than 100 people are still reported missing, as reported by the Xinhua News Agency.

Earlier, information from the Associated Press indicated that seven people had died as a result of the incident, and at least 215 people were rescued. The ferry, which had around 350 passengers on board, sank off the coast of the Philippines.

"At this time, at least 13 bodies have been found, and more than 100 people remain missing after the inter-island ferry with over 300 passengers sank early Monday morning near Basilan province," Xinhua reports.

The agency also adds that the number of survivors in this tragedy is still being confirmed.
