Forecast of Dzud in January in Mongolia
According to the forecast for January, the conditions for livestock wintering will vary by region: 3% of the territory will face extremely difficult conditions, 17% — difficult, 38% — moderate, 26% — slightly difficult, and 16% — easy conditions. In particular, in most districts of the aimags of Bayan-Ölgii, Uvs, Khovd, Töv, Selenge, and Darkhan-Uul, wintering is expected to be more challenging, as well as in some parts of the aimags of Övörkhangai, Bayankhongor, and Dundgovi.
In this regard, it is important to pay attention to those areas where wintering may occur under harsh conditions and to develop response plans in advance, based on short-term, medium-term, and long-term weather forecasts, as well as regularly updated dzud forecasts.
