Passenger trains derailed in two European countries
In Spain, in the area of Gelida, located in the province of Barcelona, a suburban train derailed after colliding with a collapsed retaining wall. According to the publication El Mundo, as a result of this incident, the train driver was killed, and at least 15 people were injured, some of them in serious condition.
Emergency services, including firefighters and police, are working at the scene. Traffic on this section has been completely halted.
This is already the second case of a train derailment in Spain in a short period of time: earlier, on January 18, a collision between two high-speed trains occurred in the province of Córdoba, resulting in at least 42 deaths and numerous injuries among passengers.
In Poland, a train also derailed, but according to Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak, none of the approximately 20 passengers were injured. The causes of this incident are currently being investigated by the relevant authorities. Due to the incident, some routes have been altered, and part of the trains have been replaced with buses.
