According to Peskov, "President Putin received an invitation through diplomatic channels to participate in this council. We are in the process of studying all aspects of this proposal and hope for further negotiations with the American side to clarify the details."
The idea of creating a Peace Council in the Gaza sector was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on January 16, 2026. This council is part of the American leader's peace plan, which also includes the deployment of international forces. The executive committee of the council will consist of high-profile figures such as U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Washington has invited leaders from 50 countries to participate in the "Peace Council," including Argentina, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey, and Israel. An invitation was also sent to the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, according to a source.
According to Bloomberg, U.S. authorities intend for countries wishing to obtain a permanent seat on the international Peace Council for Gaza to contribute at least $1 billion. The first chairman of the executive council is Donald Trump, who will determine who will become a member of the organization. Each state member of the council will serve for no more than three years and will receive one vote. Decisions of the council will be made by a majority vote but are subject to final approval by Chairman Trump.
