Meat sales under the reservation program will begin at 410 locations on January 20.
Starting January 20, 2026, the sale of reserve meat will begin in the capital, with preparations nearly complete. According to information from the Ulaanbaatar administration, the price for beef will be 15,000 tugriks per kilogram, while mutton will cost 13,000 tugriks per kilogram. This year, it is planned to introduce 5,000 tons of reserve meat for sale, of which 40% will be beef and 60% will be mutton. Additionally, from February 7 to 17, an expanded sale of reserve meat will take place at 18 locations in the city, coinciding with the celebration of the Mongolian New Year according to the lunar calendar. In January, several quality and safety inspections of the products were conducted, including two scheduled and two unscheduled inspections.
To meet the growing demand for meat in the capital during the spring, the Ulaanbaatar City Management Department prepares reserve stocks annually. Since June of last year, a selection of enterprises for the supply of reserve meat has been conducted. As a result, out of 15 companies that participated in the selection, nine were chosen and are currently preparing the products.
