On April 5, Kyrgyz boxer Ikhtiyar Nishonov won a gold medal at the international boxing tournament Ahmet Cömert held in Istanbul. According to the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nishonov competed in the weight category up to 70 kg and secured victory in the final against Australian athlete William Mlacic.
The boxer began his path to the final from the round of 16, where he successively defeated opponents from Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Germany.
The Ahmet Cömert tournament started on March 29 and concluded on April 5.
