On the first day of the competition, February 6, the preliminary heats for the 1500 meters took place, in which Keneshbekov participated in the first heat. He showed an outstanding result, finishing with a time of 3 minutes 50 seconds, which was the best time among all qualifying participants and secured him a place in the final with the best time.
The final for the 1500 meters took place on February 8. In this race, the Kyrgyz athlete won a silver medal, finishing second with a time of 3 minutes 44.75 seconds, which was one second longer than the athlete from Qatar who took first place.
