
From February 6 to 22, 2026, the XXV Winter Olympic Games will be held in Italy.
According to the official Olympic website, more than 90 countries will participate in the event. Kyrgyzstan will also be represented at these games, submitting two applications from its athletes.
The team consists of: Timur Shakirov (alpine skiing) under the guidance of Igor Borisov and Arthur Saparbekov (cross-country skiing), who trains under Alexander Levdansky.
The cross-country skiing competitions will take place in Val di Fiemme, where Arthur Saparbekov will participate in the classic style sprint and the 10-kilometer freestyle event. Timur Shakirov will compete in the giant slalom and slalom at the Bormio resort.
At the XXV Winter Olympic Games, 109 sets of medals will be contested in 15 sports, including cross-country skiing, biathlon, alpine skiing, snowboarding, speed skating, and hockey. Thousands of athletes from around the world are expected to gather for these games.
Additionally, from March 6 to 15, 2026, the Winter Paralympic Games will be held in Italy, featuring athletes with disabilities.
