At the 2026 Olympics, 40 athletes from Central Asian countries will participate

At the 2026 Winter Olympics, which will take place in Italy, 40 athletes will represent the countries of Central Asia.

The largest number of participants will come from Kazakhstan, which will send 36 athletes. Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will each delegate two athletes.

Tajikistan will be unable to send its athletes to the Games for the third consecutive year.

It is worth noting that Turkmenistan has never participated in the Winter Olympic Games.

The Kyrgyzstan team includes two athletes: Timur Shakirov, who competes in alpine skiing under the guidance of Igor Borisov, and Artur Saparbekov, who represents cross-country skiing and trained under Alexander Levdansky.

Artur Saparbekov will compete in the classic style sprint and the 10-kilometer freestyle event, with the cross-country skiing competitions taking place in Val di Fiemme.

As for Timur Shakirov, he will participate in the giant slalom and slalom events, which will be held at the Bormio ski resort.

The XXV Winter Olympic Games are scheduled from February 6 to 22, 2026, while the Winter Paralympic Games will take place from March 6 to 15.

A total of 2,871 athletes from 93 countries will compete for 116 sets of medals in 16 disciplines.
