At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Science, Education, Innovations, Information Technologies, Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs held on January 19, Deputy Bolot Sagynaev proposed to discuss the condition of the Sports Palace in Bishkek.

During the discussion, addressing the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Kazybek Moldazhiyev, he noted that many sports facilities are currently being renovated, and the "Zhashtyk-Arena" is already fully prepared for events planned for the entire year—both sports and cultural.

“Many facilities are currently under renovation, but the Sports Palace remains the only one that requires attention. It also houses an Olympic-standard swimming pool. If the Sports Palace had the ability to finance its needs independently, it could renovate the pool, open a bathhouse, and create a football field… However, its current condition, being in the city center, raises concerns,” said Sagynaev.

In response, Moldazhiyev noted that there is already an instruction from the president regarding this facility. “During the opening of the 'Zhashtyk-Arena,' President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich instructed to carry out repairs and reconstruction of the Sports Palace while preserving its original concept. The status of the Sports Palace will remain the same. The head of state instructed the mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, to find the necessary funds for the renovation. This issue has already been included in the plans, and I hope that the work will begin this year—in the near future,” he added.
