Access to Mount Aigul-Tash is closed for five years for its protection
In the Batken region, it has been reported that the unique flower Aigul (Fritillaria eduardii) has begun to bloom, as stated by the Ministry of Natural Resources.
This fragile plant, which can reach a height of one meter, is one of the most mysterious species in Central Asia. Its biological cycle is astonishing: from the moment a seed is in the soil until the first flower blooms takes a full seven years, and the age of the flower can be determined by the number of buds on the stem.
However, this year it will be impossible to see it in its natural habitat. Due to a sharp decline in its numbers, the authorities have decided to prohibit access to the "Aigul-Tash" area for the next five years, until 2030.
Ecologists emphasize that this plant is very sensitive to human impact and only grows on shady mountain slopes. The five-year protection regime and enhanced security measures are the only way to preserve this red-listed symbol for future generations.
