Today, March 27, a significant international tournament of the Poddubny Wrestling League (PWL 11) will take place in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, featuring Omurbek Asan uulu. This 19-year-old wrestler from Kyrgyzstan will compete in the 61-kilogram category in freestyle wrestling. His opponent will be the experienced Russian athlete Chermen Tavitov, who previously won the Yarygin Cup and became a finalist in one of the major tournaments in Albania.
Omurbek has already established himself on the domestic stage. At the end of 2025, he managed to win a silver medal at the Kyrgyzstan Championship, where he lost in a tense battle to Bekzat Almaz uulu. The upcoming match against Tavitov will be an important test for Omurbek and an opportunity to showcase his abilities on the international stage.
