In recent weeks, there has been a significant decrease in prices for cattle in the Batken region, amounting to 15,000 to 20,000 soms, as local farmers reported to Turmush correspondent. The reason for this price drop may be the spread of infectious diseases throughout Kyrgyzstan. Additionally, farmers noted that compared to the autumn period, the cost of feed and hay has increased.

Along with cattle, there has also been a decrease in prices for sheep and goats, which has amounted to 2,000 to 3,000 soms. Despite this, interest in breeding animals and livestock for meat and dairy production remains high.

At the market in the city of Batken, one of the largest Aberdeen-Angus bulls was presented, valued at 327,000 soms. This bull, weighing 794 kilograms and aged between 2.5 to 3 years, has become one of the largest on the market. The price was 412 soms per kilogram of live weight.

Note: The Aberdeen-Angus breed is a breed of cattle originating from Scotland. These animals are quickly and efficiently fattened and are characterized by rounded shapes, early maturity, and meat quality. When crossed with other breeds, they pass on their meat qualities to their offspring.

These animals can be kept outdoors even in severe frosts. The live weight of cows ranges from 500 to 700 kg, while bulls weigh between 750 and 1,000 kg. With intensive rearing, at 15–16 months, steers reach a weight of 450–460 kg, and newborn calves can weigh 16–25 kg. Calves are raised on suckling until 8 months old, thanks to the strong maternal instinct of the cows.

The average daily gain is 700–800 grams, and the slaughter yield is about 60%. Feed costs for 1 kg of gain amount to 6.5 feed units, and milk production reaches 2,000 kg. The meat of this breed, along with that of the Hereford breed, is considered one of the best for steak preparation. Special attention is given to USDA-certified meat labeled "Certified Angus Beef," which is distinguished by its high marbling. It should be noted that the "Certified Angus Beef" label does not always imply belonging to the Angus breed, as there are requirements regarding the age and quality of the carcass that can also be met by other breeds.
