In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, the update of more than 40.7 kilometers of SIP cable is planned, as reported by the local electric grid company. Preparations for the autumn-winter season of 2026-2027 will begin this year, and the work on laying and reconstructing cables will take place from March to November, covering the most important areas of the city.
The work will be distributed across the following districts:
- Eastern RES — 4.5 km
- Western RES — 21,420 km
- Northern RES — 19,272 km
As part of the project, it is planned to:
- update old power lines
- replace outdated wires with modern insulated SIP
- install new supports and reinforce existing structures
- connect new subscribers and expand networks in residential areas
- reduce the load on existing lines
- decrease technological losses of electricity
Additionally, emphasis will be placed on the resilience of the power grids during the winter period. The use of SIP cable will help prevent snow accumulation and ice formation, as well as reduce the risk of short circuits and ensure stable electricity supply even in adverse weather conditions.
It is expected that the implementation of this project will improve the quality and reliability of electricity supply, significantly reduce the number of accidents in the networks, decrease electricity losses during transmission, and create opportunities for connecting new consumers.
The planned works will significantly increase the capacity of the electrical networks and provide more quality and reliable electricity supply during peak winter loads.
Funding for these activities will be carried out from the own funds of JSC "NESC".
