In the Kyrgyz Republic, work is being carried out on fish stocking and combating poaching in reservoirs

On March 18, during a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Bolotbek Borbieff initiated a discussion on the issue of using Chinese synthetic fishing nets in the Toktogul Reservoir, located in the Toktogul district of the Jalal-Abad region, as well as the need for stocking this water body with fry.

In response to the raised issue, the Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry reported on plans to stock the following water bodies with carp (common carp) fry averaging 25 grams in weight in October 2026:

Toktogul — 150,000 individuals;

Kirov — 100,000;

Bazar-Korgon — 10,000;

Shamaldy-Sai — 5,000;

Tash-Kumyr — 5,000.

Additionally, under the resolution of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, joint raids are being conducted with the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the Toktogul, Bazar-Korgon, Kurp-Sai, Shamaldy-Sai, Tash-Kumyr, Uch-Korgon, and Kirov reservoirs to combat illegal fishing and poaching.
