See how they are increasing the fish population in Issyk-Kul

Currently, projects for fish stocking in Lake Issyk-Kul and Lake Son-Kul are actively being implemented. This is reported by the Department of the Fisheries Industry under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.
This plan for the artificial reproduction of valuable fish stocks has been agreed upon with the Institute of Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic and officially approved by the Department of the Fisheries Industry. According to this plan, every summer, fry of Issyk-Kul trout, carp (common carp), and Siberian whitefish will be released into the lakes.

For 2024:For 2025:
  • 13.6 million fish will be released into Lake Issyk-Kul,
  • 5.6 million fry will be released into Lake Son-Kul.
Plans for 2026:
  • 14.1 million specimens are to be released into Lake Issyk-Kul,
  • 3.5 million fry will be released into Lake Son-Kul.
The specialists of the Department of the Fisheries Industry, in cooperation with the diving service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Tourist and Environmental Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, regularly conduct raids to combat poaching in Lakes Issyk-Kul and Son-Kul. As part of these activities, the water bodies are being cleared of illegally installed synthetic nets.
