Novikov noted: "I am very grateful for the trust and the opportunity to lead the Basketball Federation. In our country, sports and the formation of a youth sports culture are important aspects that require attention."
Niiaz Isakov, the chairman of the federation's board, congratulated Novikov on his election and expressed confidence that his management experience would contribute to the progress of basketball in Kyrgyzstan.
He added: "We are convinced that under your leadership, Kyrgyz basketball will receive a new impetus for development."
Artem Novikov, who previously held the position of Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, is currently the chairman of the Board of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund.
