A working meeting took place between the Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan, Damir Osmonov, and the UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic, Alexandra Solovieva, focusing on the most important aspects of the healthcare system. Issues related to the provision of medical institutions with pharmaceuticals and preparation for the new grant cycle of the Global Fund aimed at combating AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria were discussed.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, significant attention was paid to the processes of procurement and delivery of medical products and medicines for healthcare organizations. Currently, with the support of UNDP, work continues on procurement and organizational issues to ensure that medical institutions have the necessary resources.
In addition, the participants of the meeting discussed logistical aspects and the sequence of deliveries of medical goods within the framework of current cooperation programs.
One of the key topics of discussion was the preparation of Kyrgyzstan's application for a new grant cycle from the Global Fund. Given the increase in the country's revenues, a phased reduction in donor funding volumes is expected, which will require an increase in the share of national funding for public health programs.
The first application window for the grant will open in early June. A working group, including national experts, has already been established to prepare the necessary documents. UNDP will continue to provide expert and technical support in the process of preparing the application and implementing grant activities.
At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness for further cooperation aimed at the sustainable development of public health programs, including the fight against tuberculosis and HIV, as well as strengthening the system for providing medicines.
