The Ministry of Health discussed with UNDP the priorities for the development of the healthcare system until 2030.
Recently, the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kanibek Dosmambetov, met with Alexandra Solovyova, who represents the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the country. The main focus of the meeting was to identify key areas for cooperation regarding the development strategy of the healthcare system until 2030.
According to the Ministry of Health, discussions emphasized institutional strengthening of healthcare, development of human resources, implementation of digital technologies in medical services, and enhancing the resilience of the entire healthcare system.
Among the important topics discussed was the organization of procurement of medical drugs and products through UN mechanisms. The parties agreed on further steps for centralized procurement aimed at ensuring access to quality medical products at reasonable prices, as well as increasing transparency and efficiency of procurement procedures. Achievements in implementing previously reached agreements and preparatory work on forming lists of necessary medicines and medical products were also discussed.
Kanibek Dosmambetov expressed gratitude to UNDP for its support in implementing tuberculosis-related programs and for assisting healthcare reforms, emphasizing the importance of using international procurement mechanisms for more rational use of state resources.
During the meeting, aspects of the transitional period for the Global Fund grant aimed at combating AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria were also considered. It is important to note that the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan is viewed as the main recipient of the grant in the next cycle, which implies the need for a gradual transition of functions and strengthening national management capacities. Significant attention was given to preparing an application for the new grant cycle and ensuring the sustainability of current programs, which includes maintaining access to diagnostics and treatment for vulnerable population groups.
As a result of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further expand partnership aimed at creating a modern, sustainable, and effective healthcare system in the Kyrgyz Republic.
