Control over the relatives of officials will be strengthened. The Jogorku Kenesh approved amendments to the law.
The proposal for amendments came from the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The updated version of the law expands the definition of "affiliated person." Now it will include both individuals and legal entities that can influence decision-making through transactions, equity participation, financial dependence, control, as well as through close family ties or dependency.
In addition, the new bill establishes that the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan will determine the authorized bodies responsible for its implementation. One of these bodies will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring compliance with the requirements of the document.
The method of verifying declarations of personal interests will also change. Verification will be entrusted to the personnel services of state institutions, local self-government bodies, and various organizations.
An important innovation will be the strengthening of responsibility for violations. It is established that false information in declarations will entail disciplinary responsibility. If a leader fails to take necessary measures upon identifying a conflict of interest, this may serve as grounds for their dismissal.
It is proposed to consider income and property benefits obtained in violation of the law as damage to the state, with mandatory compensation for such losses.
