In 2026, Bishkek will continue the modernization of its electrical networks. As part of the reforms being carried out by the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic, it is planned to install 278 new reinforced concrete poles, replacing outdated wooden structures. This was reported by the Bishkek Electric Networks Enterprise.

The wooden poles that will be replaced were installed in the 1960s-70s and have significantly exceeded their operational lifespan. Many of them are in a condition that poses a danger.

According to the enterprise, "the transition to reinforced concrete poles will enhance the reliability of electricity supply, reduce the number of emergency outages, and ensure a more stable power supply for consumers."

The replacement of poles will take place in the following areas: Eastern RES — 50 poles, Western RES — 103 poles, Northern RES — 125 poles. The installation of the new structures is expected to be completed by the end of November 2026.

It should be noted that in 2025, over 671 reinforced concrete poles were already installed, significantly improving the condition of the worn-out infrastructure and increasing the reliability of electricity supply in some areas. These measures are a key step towards enhancing the resilience and efficiency of Bishkek's electrical system. The modernization of the capital's energy infrastructure will continue in the future.
