In 2026, work will continue in the Issyk-Kul region to update the electrical networks. The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan reports plans to replace more than 2000 old wooden poles with modern reinforced concrete ones.
The wooden poles scheduled for replacement were installed in the 1960s and 70s and have significantly exceeded their normative service life, being in critical condition.
The transition to reinforced concrete poles will improve the reliability of electricity supply, reduce the number of emergency situations, and ensure a stable supply of electricity for consumers.
In 2026, the replacement of poles will be carried out at the following distribution electrical networks (RES):
- Ak-Suisky RES – 258 poles
- Karakoilsky RES – 260 poles
- Jeti-Oguzsky RES – 263 poles
- Tonsky RES – 543 poles
- Cholpon-Ata RES – 314 poles
- Tupsky RES – 229 poles
- Balykchinsky RES – 282 poles.
It is expected that the installation of new reinforced concrete poles will be completed by the end of November 2026.
In 2025, more than 1500 old poles were replaced, which significantly improved the condition of the infrastructure in several settlements in the region.
The reinforced concrete poles to be installed in 2026 will be produced in a workshop that has been operating since 2017 on the territory of the Balykchinsky RES. This workshop manufactures poles of the SV-110 and SV-95 brands, which meet modern standards of quality and reliability.
This initiative is an important step towards increasing the resilience and efficiency of electricity supply in the region, and the modernization of the energy infrastructure in the Issyk-Kul region will continue in the future.
