Recently, «Ala-Too Resort» and the Austrian company Doppelmayr signed an agreement to implement a project for the construction of four cable cars at the «Jyrgalan» resort. The contract was approved by the head of the Russian division of the company, Valery Yashin, and the chairman of the board of OJSC Zharkynbek Maksutov.
This contract is a continuation of a large-scale project to create a modern ski cluster in the Issyk-Kul region. Under the previous agreement signed in 2025, work is underway to construct two main cable cars, which are planned to be put into operation in May 2026.
According to the new agreement, four more cable cars will be installed in Jyrgalan by the end of 2026. As a result, by December, the total length of the cable lines will exceed 8 kilometers, and the length of the ski trails will reach 46 kilometers.
First stage of resort development
Valery Yashin noted that since 2025, the team of specialists has been engaged not only in building infrastructure but also in developing a master plan for the comprehensive development of Jyrgalan.
This plan includes the first phase of the project, which provides for not only the construction of cable cars but also the creation of the necessary infrastructure. In 2026, large-scale work is planned on the mountain to create a full range of services so that by December, tourists can enjoy services comparable to international standards.
Modern technologies and international experience
According to company representatives, the equipment being installed at the resort is one of the most modern solutions in this field.
About 60% of the projects implemented by Doppelmayr are carried out in high-altitude areas. The company operates in 96 countries, and this project will be their first such experience in Kyrgyzstan.
