Kyrgyzstan exported 3.886 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2025

In 2025, Kyrgyzstan exported electricity amounting to 3.886 billion kilowatt-hours. This information was announced by the Minister of Energy Talaybek Ibraev at a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with issues of industrial policy, transport, as well as the fuel and energy complex and construction.

The minister noted that the total electricity generation in the republic amounted to 15.4 billion kilowatt-hours. Of this volume, 12.9 billion kilowatt-hours came from hydropower plants, 2 billion from the CHP in Bishkek, and small hydropower plants produced 450 million kilowatt-hours.

“The population's demand for electricity is 19.3 billion kilowatt-hours. The remaining shortfall of 3.886 billion kilowatt-hours was covered by imports from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Russia,” he added.

The minister also reported that, according to data from NESK, last year 26,448 new subscribers were connected to the grid, corresponding to a consumption of 1,974 megawatts of electricity.
