
A total of 567 million dollars has been invested in the development of the water sector
At a meeting of the Committee on Agricultural Policy, Water Resources, Ecology, and Environmental Protection, information was presented about the state of wastewater treatment facilities for drinking and sewage water in the settlements of Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh.
Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Zhanibek Kerimaliev noted that since 2021, increased attention has been paid to the water sector.
The total amount of attracted investments reached 567 million dollars, of which 55 million were allocated from the republican budget.
"These funds have allowed for the improvement of water supply systems in 25 cities and 601 villages from 2021 to 2025," he added.
Committee members emphasized the importance of accelerating measures to provide the population with quality drinking water on a continuous basis.
Deputy Alisher Kozaev pointed out the need for the expedited commissioning of wastewater treatment facilities in Kara-Suu, stating that the planned launch date for the facility is the fourth quarter of 2026.
Deputy Nilufer Alimjanova proposed creating laboratories in the regions to monitor water quality.
Committee Chairman Bakyt Tentishev noted that water quality must meet sanitary standards, and it is also necessary to implement water purification and disinfection systems.
