
A decree has been signed regarding the new mayor
Sadyr Japarov, the president of the Kyrgyz Republic, has signed a decree appointing Janar Akayev as the new mayor of Osh. This decision was made based on Article 71 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Law "On Local State Administration and Local Self-Government Bodies," as reported by the president's press service.
Janar Akayev was born on December 13, 1986, in the village of Kabylen-Kol, located in the Aksy district of the Osh region. In 2009, he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Osh State University.
His career began in 2008 when he started working for the Kyrgyz service of Radio "Azattyk." In 2015, Akayev took the position of press secretary to the president of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Since October 2015, he has been a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh of the VI convocation from the SDPK party. From 2015 to 2017, he served as the deputy chairman of the committee dealing with social issues, education, science, culture, and healthcare.
Akayev has received several awards, including the "Golden Pen of Eurasia" (2011) and "Kurch Kalem" (2014). He is married and has three children.
